California Closets commissioned me to shoot a “client story” with the best-selling author Marie Kondo, Mother Magazine-founder Katie Hintz-Zambrono, and one of their on-staff designers. I worked alongside a film-production crew as Katie received Marie Kondo’s celebrity consultation on her bursting bedroom closet. I gave clients promotional photographs about the Konmari tidying-process, Katie’s subsequent visits to the CA Closets design studio, and a new, organized closet reveal two weeks later. I aimed to honestly reveal the domestic clutter and color in the first shoot, and bright, tidied organization along with more composed, formal portraiture in the subsequent shoots.
