I photograph interiors for designers, eateries, artists, home-owners, magazines and other clients, I shoot with handheld cameras and an eye for natural light, the mood of a room, and that which makes a space uniquely lived-in, not falsely staged. My photographs of interiors emphasize the experiential components of a place as much as its factual ones.
When I discovered at a young age it was perfectly acceptable to stare at someone who struck my fancy—if only I had a camera, the bravery to say hello, and an intention to honor—my love of photographic portraiture was born. To this day, it’s a privilege to photograph human beings in their elements, often their home spaces. My approach to portraiture is naturalistic with a keen eye for gesture and grace.

Whether working for small businesses, large firms or unique individuals, I am frequently documenting gatherings, particularly in art, design, culinary, fashion and publishing fields. At times these gatherings are grand, celebratory affairs: art auctions, release parties, award ceremonies, open studios or dance parties; at other times they are quieter congregations: lectures, spiritual ceremonies, museum happenings, book fairs or intimate family gatherings.
Working for farmers, wineries, chefs and landscape designers I am lucky enough to spend time, often in the early morning, in gardens. Similarly to photographing interiors, my clients hire me because my environmental photographs convey the feeling of a landscape-simultaneously featuring designed elements alongside natural, unpredictable ones. I ground landscape design and garden photographs in thorough discussion with clients about what features they want to convey; ultimately I emphasize those paired with the particular whimsy of the landscape, capturing a place’s moods over the course of a day, a season, or a shift in the clouds.
